With a dire need for funding and assistance came Victra Darmstadt’s greatest challenge. For years, she had undertaken a groundbreaking research project intended to immobilize cells that could then be reanimated upon successful treatment for disease. It was with her partner’s own declining health that she was left with no choice but to subject him to their own research as its first subject. As his life remained in stasis awaiting the successful demonstration of their ideals, Victra began to feel pressure anew along the shores of expectation. As funding dwindled and more hands were required, it was only upon seeing a solicitation for researchers of varying scientific disciplines did she find a chance at salvation. The masked figure she ultimately met gifted only menace alongside his promises. If successful in his endeavor and her help assured, limitless funding and aid would be allocated for any purpose she would like. It was soon that the grim reality of her circumstances and the testing of her morals led to her seeking an escape. At last light, her being exposed as a traitor appeared to leave all lost. With one final opportunity, she is promised that, by participating in the game under her benefactor’s direction, she and the others contracted into this game of ultimate secrecy could all go free—or face the consequences of a last and binding betrayal.
